MARGAO: Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) on Friday stated that the corporation has provided a parking facility, illumination, toilet cum shower facilities, and tourist facilitation centre at Benaulim beach.
Narayan Mayekar, SE, PC-GTDC further stated that an agency for the operation and maintenance of toilets have already been appointed who will start activities soon.
“Dustbin shall be supplied to the operation and maintenance agency that will place the dustbin at the site. Amenities for tourists such as toilet facility with bath/changing room for gents, ladies and for differently-abled persons have been built. Besides a tourist facilitation centre is put up which is nearing completion. The total cost of all the infrastructure provided is to the tune of Rs 4.4 crore”, he informed.
Mayekar stated that an area of 7000 m2 is developed as parking to accommodate 200 cars and 150 two-wheelers. The said parking area has been adequately illuminated.
The GTDC under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme of Ministry Tourism has also provided permanent/temporary toilet blocks in Candolim, Calangute, Baga, Anjuna, Ashwem, Morjim beaches and at Tiracol, Keri, Pernem bus stand, Morjim Khind, Santa Monica Jetty in North Goa and Colva, Benaulim, Palolem, Sernabatim, Varca, Fatrade, Cavelossim, Mobor, and Margao bus stand in South Goa.
