GU declares final year results

PANJIM:  Bowing to pressure from various students’ wings, Goa University on Tuesday declared the final year results for the exams held in July.

The National Students Union of India (NSUI), Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Goa Forward Party Students’ Cell had threatened to protest if the exam results of about 10,000 students, including graduate and post-graduate students, are not declared in a time-bound manner. They had said that the prospects of the students were in jeopardy due to the non-declaration of the results.

While the GFP Students Cell welcomed GU’s move, the NSUI Goa Unit said that the results of only a few undergraduate colleges were declared by the Varsity.

“GU has declared the results of only a few UG colleges. The results of a majority of colleges have still not been released, and without mark-sheets, it is of no use for students who are looking for jobs or going for higher studies,” said State president Naushad Chowdhari . “NSUI demands that results of all the remaining colleges should be declared, along with the mark-sheets,” he added.

Initially, the Varsity said that the results would be announced on August 5, and later postponed the date to August 18.
