PANJIM: The National Students Union of India (NSUI), state unit, has alleged politicization of the student’s council elections of Goa University saying that the election officials are acting like agents of the BJP.
“Sons of BJP Ministers and MLAs, being outsiders are spotted inside colleges using govt influence to pressurise students and promising Mamlatdar posts and PSI jobs to students,” Hasiba Amin, State NSUI chief alleged.
“If the BJPYM wanted to win the elections by all means, they should have appointed their own committee,” Amin said.
“Also, the Director of Students’ Welfare was missing on the last day of submission of college forms and students of our panel were not even given a chance to check the forms that came in from colleges. If this is a democratic procedure we are talking about then where is the transparency?” she asked.
Goa University Students Council 2013-14 elections are scheduled to be held on August 26, with the nominations scheduled to be filed on August 21.
