GU extends suspension period of online classes till May 31

PANJIM: The Goa University has further extended the period of suspension of all the online classes for programmes offered by it and its affiliated colleges till May 31 and has declared it as vacation period. 

Earlier, the online classes were suspended for two weeks from May 11-24. 

The decision been taken after the State government extended the State-wide curfew with present restrictions till May 31. 

“The University has decided to further suspend the conduct of online classes for programmes offered at the University Campus and at its affiliated colleges till May 31,” the University circular issued on Friday stated. 

The period will be considered as vacation for the staff and students, who are eligible for vacation. 

 “Non-vacation staff shall continue to work from home as per the directives of their respective Directorates/Institutions,” the University mentioned.

The faculty of the University is directed to work on subsequent Saturday’s in lieu of additional days availed as vacation. The non-teaching staff however is exempted from the same. 

It has also stated that the affiliated colleges offering professional programmes governed by Statutory Councils/Bodies shall however continue to follow the Guidelines/Advisories of their respective Councils. 

Earlier, the University had informed colleges that offline examination will not be conducted before June 16 while online examinations were postponed till June 8.
