GU sets fresh dates for two MBBS papers

A Herald expose of the MBBS paper leaks had its full impact with the Goa University now declaring examinations of General Medicine Paper-I and Paper-II held on January 1 and 3, respectively, as null and avoid.
A press statement issued by the Controller of Examinations G P Prabhu Khanolkar NOTES, “In view of the observations reported by the Inquiry Committee appointed by GU to inquire into the alleged leakage of the papers, the examinations have been treated as null and avoid.”
The statement informs on the fresh dates for the examination on January 13 (General Medicine Paper I) and January 14 (General Medicine Paper II). For both days the exam time is from 10 am to 1 pm.
The examination for the remaining subjects of MBBS will be held as scheduled, it notes.
When contacted Assistant Registrar Rajesh Bhatikar said the report was with the Vice Chancellor and he may address a press conference to make it known to the media.
Sources confirmed that the three-member committee in their report to the Vice Chancellor has confirmed ‘paper leakage’.
“The committee was basically to conduct preliminary inquiry on whether the medical papers were leaked or not. The report has affirmed leakage,” said the source.
After studying the first report, Vice Chancellor will form another committee to probe into the details of the leakage.
