GU Students’ Council election on Sept 14

PANJIM: Goa University (GU) has issued a notification for the formation of Students’ Council including executive committee for the current academic year. 
The notification by Directorate of Students’ Welfare and Cultural Affairs (DSW) of GU has declared dates for elections to Class Representative (UCR), University Faculty Representatives (UFR) and Executive Committee of the GU Students’ Council. 
Elections in the first category will be held on September 14 results of which will be announced on the very day, voting and counting for the second and third categories will be held on September 28 and October 16, respectively. 
“The Students’ Council of Goa University shall consist of one representative designated as University Faculty Representative (UFR) from each Faculty of the College /University Teaching Departments elected by an Electoral College consisting of University Class Representatives (UCR) of each class of the affiliated College/ Institution /University Teaching Departments as the case may be. The Electoral Roll of a Faculty in a College / Institution shall consist of all the UCR’s of that Faculty in the College / Institution, who shall elect one among themselves as UFR to represent the respective Faculty in the College/Institution in the University Students’ Council,” reads an extract from the notification released this month. 
“For the election of UCRs and UFRs, the respective Principals of the colleges /Heads of the Institutions / Director of Students’ Welfare or his nominees shall be the Returning Officer,” it states.
