PANJIM: The Goa University Students’ Council election will be held on Monday, August 26.
Announcing the date of the election, the varsity has said that the election which was due to be held on August 15, was suspended as an appeal against disqualification of a candidate was filed before Vice chancellor.
The fresh election to the Executive Committee of the Goa University Students’ Council for the academic year 2019-20 has been scheduled on August 26 from 12 noon to 1 pm.
Amidst high voltage drama between rival groups over the student’s council election, the varsity had to postpone the scheduled polls minutes before the voting.
In fact, the situation had remained tensed since August 14 when two groups backed by BJP and ABVP clashed with each followed by complaint and counter complaint at Women Police Station.
Meanwhile, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) has announced to boycott the elections demanding that all 28000 students be allowed to vote.
