PANJIM: After Dhempe College of Arts and Science declared the results of the debarred student, which had initially been held back, nearly a fortnight ago, the issue will be discussed by the Goa University (GU) Academic Council (AC) on Friday.
The discussion will be on the report of the varsity’s three-member committee that was constituted to inquire into the attendance fiasco and suggest action on violation of ordinance OC 45. It is reliably learnt that the AC is likely to penalise the college management for the alleged violation.
The debarred students had earlier this month filed a writ petition before the High Court of Bombay at Goa against the college’s decision to withhold their results.
The students had sought directions to the college, as well as to GU, to declare the Semester I and Semester III supplementary results of First Year BA and BSc, and Second Year BA and BSc students. They had also sought relief as the admissions for the fresh semester were to end on July 15, 2016.
Even before the petition could come up for hearing and reportedly without GU permission, the college declared the results on July 11.
The matter will be debated on the floor of the House on Tuesday as a legislator has tabled a Calling Attention Motion.
