GU to launch two diploma courses in Indian Sign Language soon

PANJIM: The Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities will introduce Diploma in Indian Sign Language Interpreting (DISLI) and Diploma in Teaching Indian Sign Language (DTISL) in Goa for the first time by the prestigious National Institute Ali Yavar National Institute of Speech & Hearing Disabilities (AYJNISHD) under the DePwD, MSJ&E and the Government of India in association with the Goa University at the varsity campus.

These courses are the first initiative as part of the MoU signed between the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, AYJNISHD and the Goa University with more courses to be introduced in the future.

The DISLI course (Diploma in Indian Sign Language Interpretation) is open to candidates who have completed their senior secondary education (10+2) or equivalent with at least 50 per cent marks. Applicants must also have functional hands, be fluent in at least one language, and have normal hearing sensitivity.
