GU to reserve 10% for EWS in PG progs

PANJIM: The Goa University has announced that 10 per cent of total Post Graduate (PG) seats would be reserved for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) from the current academic year 2020-21 onwards.

“Goa University has decided to implement EWS Reservation Policy as mandated by the government and to invite applications for admissions to the various programmes to fill the EWA quota and consequential additional seats created under the reserved category,” the varsity said in the circular issued.

After conducting Goa University Admissions Ranking (GU-AT) test I and II, the University said that admission process for PG programmes at the varsity and affiliated colleges will be carried out online. The applications are to be submitted by the students online before July 16.

The University will conduct the Round III of GU-AT on July 20 and 21, and the mode of holding the test will be announced later.

“Candidates who have already answered GU-ART 2020-21 Round I and Round II for a particular programme are not required to answer again. However, those candidates who had applied for Round I and Round II and wish to apply under EWS category are required to fill up Google Form and upload a valid EWS certificate,” the University said.

Admissions to the PG Programmes shall be entirely based on the GU-AR test. The marks/percentage obtained by the students while graduating would only be used to ascertain the eligibility of candidates for the Programme. The purpose of the GU-AR test is only to rank the prospective students and not for determination of pass/fail.

Meanwhile, in view of COVID pandemic social distancing norms, the University has also decided to conduct online counselling for admissions in PG programme which are offered at University department, school and at affiliated colleges.
