GU warns action against teachers who shirk exam duties

PANJIM: The Goa University (GU) has warned to initiate action against the teachers who fail to adhere to examination work, thus affecting its smooth conduct.

University Registrar VS Nadkarni in a circular issued to the principals of affiliated colleges has said that examinations’ work is an integral part of teacher’s duty and declining such important tasks would be viewed seriously.

“It has been observed that inspite of several circulars issued time to time, teachers are declining examination duties by citing various reasons thereby making it difficult for the smooth functioning of the Examination Division of the University,” Nadkarni said in a circular issued on Tuesday.

The Varsity said that under the statutory provisions of the University as well as to the Goa Prevention of Malpractices at University, Board and other Specified Examinations Act (Goa Act No. 8 of 1991), it has been clearly laid down that examinations work is an integral part of teacher’s duty and declining such important tasks shall be viewed seriously and shall also be punishable under the law.
