guard decamps with cash after assaulting supervisor

A 24-year-old security guard from Manipur, stationed at a private-run mobile tower at Loliem, allegedly assaulted a security supervisor, who had come to disburse salary, before decamping with cash bag containing Rs 35,000 on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Canacona Police PI Raju Raut Dessai, the incident came to light only past Tuesday midnight, after the frantically searching family of the security supervisor found him unconscious locked inside a mobile tower equipment room at Dapot-Loliem.
PI Dessai informed that Vinayak Patil (50), security supervisor with Central Investigation & Security Services Ltd, Porvorim, was on a salary disbursal round on Tuesday and had reached the mobile tower situated at Dapot to disburse salary to the working guards at about 11.30 am.
The security guard, who was on duty at the time, allegedly assaulted Patil. Later the security guard attacked Patil with a chopper, injuring him badly and unconscious.
The accused locked unconscious Patil inside the equipment room of the mobile tower and fled on the motorcycle belonging to b Patil, informed PI Dessai.
Since the supervisor did not reach his home even late at night, a frantic search was led by his family members contacting every stations, where he was supposed to disburse salary to the security guards on the day.
Sources informed that the family could trace Patil’s last tract of leaving Canacona tower to go to Loliem tower. There was none to confirm the arrival or leaving of Patil from Loliem tower.
Sources further informed that with the help of security personnel stationed at one of the towers in Canacona, the family reached Loliem tower only to see the tower’s equipment room locked and security personnel from there missing.
Later, unconscious Patil was found in a pool of blood and was rushed to Community Health Centre, from where he was shifted to Hospicio in Margao, where he is recuperating.
According to PI Dessai, police were informed passed Tuesday midnight, after which frantic search led to discovery of a motorcycle at KTC bus stand at Canacona on Wednesday morning.
Canacona PI informed that further investigation is on and every effort will be made to nab the accused.
