PANJIM, MAY 11
In wake of the constant terror threat in the country and Goa in particular, the State administration has asked the hotel managements to strictly check identity of guests before check-in.
In an order issued today, the District Magistrate, North Goa District, under section 144 of CrPC 1973 has ordered that owners would not allow any guest to check in without identity proof.
“Management of all hotels, lodging and boarding, private guest houses, paying guest, accommodation of all religious bodies, shall not allow any visitors or guests to check in without providing any photo identity proof,” the order states.
Further it states that identities such as Smart Card, Election Card, Employment Card, ATM Card or any other Photo Identity Card issued by the recognized authority can be accepted by the managements.
The magistrate has also asked the management to compulsorily furnish details of all foreigners staying in their premises in “C” form (prescribed by the Government). “The in-charge of such lodging places shall provide all such information for inspection to the police authority,” the order states adding,
“This order shall come into force with effect from May 11, 2010 and shall be effective for the period of 60 days up to July 9, 2010 (both days inclusive) unless withdrawn earlier.”
