MARGAO: The village gram sabha of Guirdolim was the latest amongst Salcete gram sabhas to pass a resolution on the Mhadei issue.
The Guirdolim gram sabha passed its resolution objecting to the diversion of Mhadei River and wanting the Central government to revoke the approval granted to the Karnataka government’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the said diversion.
It may be noted that the Sarpanch was on leave so the gram sabha was presided over by the Deputy Sarpanch.
Another major resolution passed was regarding how the panchayat can mop up its revenue.
The Guirdolim gram sabha resolved to ask landlords and other property owners, who have leased out their premises to migrants, to pay one month’s rent to the panchayat.
The surplus budget prepared by the village panchayat for the next annual year was also passed after certain corrections were made based on the suggestions given by the gram sabha members.
