Guirim-Mapusa road in bad shape as patch work wears off

MAPUSA: People commuting on the Guirim-Mapusa service road are having bumpy rides as the patch work which was carried out after the bursting of pipeline and caving of road has washed off.

This stretch of the road has witnessed caving of road twice in the last one year due to bursting of water pipeline, while the cause of these incidents is still a question mark as far as people are concerned.

First incident had occurred in July 2022 when a newly constructed road caved in, while the second incident occurred in May 2023. This road has now developed potholes causing severe hassles and inconvenience to motorists.

Also, this particular stretch of road does not have streetlights as a result during the night it becomes difficult to gauge the alignment of the road. There is no retaining wall at the side of this road and if any accident occurred then there is a possibility that vehicle will land in the fields.

This particular service road from Guirim to Mapusa witnesses movement of traffic throughout the day and night. Not on private vehicles but even buses take this same road to enter Mapusa town and other surrounding areas.
