Gujarat Tourist Alleges Online Escort Scam in Calangute, Over ₹1 Lakh Fraudulently Transferred

A tourist from Gujarat has alleged that an online escort booking in Calangute turned into a major financial scam, prompting local police to register a case and launch an investigation into the suspected fraud.

According to the complaint, the victim had booked an escort service online, but upon reaching the location, he found that the individuals present did not match the photographs shown during the booking. He further alleged that additional people at the spot demanded extra money, creating pressure and confusion.

The tourist claimed that during the ordeal, more than ₹1 lakh was transferred from his bank account without his consent. Realising he had been duped, he approached the police and lodged a complaint detailing the sequence of events.

Police officials said they have frozen a bank account suspected to be a “mule” account used to divert the fraudulently obtained funds. An investigation is underway to trace the individuals involved and uncover the larger network behind the scam.

Authorities have once again urged tourists to exercise caution while engaging with online services and to report suspicious activities immediately to prevent financial and cyber fraud.
