MARGAO: The Gulab Awards 2017 will be awarded to writers, politicians and tiatrists on July 20 at Ravindra Bhavan Margao.
The winners this year include the Deputy Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly and Calangute MLA Michael Lobo as ‘Gulab’s personality of the year’, renowned senior tiatrist, Jessie Dias for ‘Gulab Tiatrist Award’ and noted Konkani writer, novelist and folk artiste Jess Fernandes for the ‘Gulab Writer of the year’ awards.
The awards will mark the 64th birth anniversary of late Fr Freddy J da Costa. The function is jointly organized by Fr Freddy J da Costa Memorial Trust and Dalgado Konknni Akademi.
At the recently held meeting of Fr Freddy J da Costa Memorial Trust, the names of the personalities to be felicitated by Gulab, the popular Konkani monthly and Fr Freddy J da Costa Memorial Trust were announced. Besides the presentation ceremony, Fr Freddy J da Costa Memorial Lecture on the subject ‘Gõycho Itihas Ani Daiz: Purvil’lea Kalla Thavn 2017 Meren’ will be delivered by Prof Prajal Sakhardande, renowned heritage activist which will be followed by a cultural programme.
