MARGAO: Deputy Speaker Michael Lobo, senior tiatrist Jessie Dias and noted Konkani writer, novelist and folk artiste Jess Fernandes were presented the Gulab Awards for 2017.
Michael Lobo is the ‘Gulab’s Personality of the year’, Jessie Dias is selected as ‘Gulab Tiatrist and Jess Fernandes is the ‘Gulab Writer of the year’.
The awards were presented by Chief Guest Radharao Gracias. Various personalities from various walks of life attended the function.
The award presentation marked the 64th birth anniversary of late Fr Freddy J da Costa and has been jointly organized by Fr Freddy J da Costa Memorial Trust and Dalgado Konknni Akademi.
Fr Freddy J da Costa Memorial Lecture on the subject ‘Gõycho Itihas Ani Daiz: Purvil’lea Kalla Thavn 2017 Meren’ was delivered by Prof Prajal Sakhardande, a heritage activist.
Michael Lobo thanked the organisers for choosing him for the personality of the year award. “The language issue of Goa needs participation of parents and a patient hearing of all the stakeholders. I will make sure that the issue is solved,” he said.
