PANJIM: Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant have extended their heartiest greetings and warm wishes to the people of Goa, on the occasion of Gudi Padwa.
In his message, Pillai said that the festival of Gudi Padwa is considered a significant traditional festival of Hindus. Gudi Padwa is celebrated in different States and regions of the country in different styles or with a different set of rituals and is known by various names. It is celebrated on the first day of the Chaitra month, according to the Hindu calendar. This day is considered as an auspicious day and it also marks as New Year.
In his message, Sawant explained the significance of Gudi Padwa, which marks the beginning of the New Year. He stated that Gudi Padwa signifies the onset of the warmer days and the spring season.
