Guv, CM extend I-Day greetings

PANJIM: Governor, Dr Mridula Sinha and Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar have extended greetings and good wishes to the people on the occasion of Independence Day.

The Governor said, “It was on this day in 1947, that India attained its freedom. Freedom fighters fought for independence even at the cost of their lives. The sacrifices made by them paved the way for our Independence. Let us pay homage to these great leaders who sacrificed their lives for the country. ”
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said, “I extend my personal greetings and compliments to the people of Goa. I appeal to all  citizens to join me in saluting the hard work and sacrifices made by our freedom fighters for securing us our freedom.”
“Since the attainment of Independence in 1947, our nation has made rapid strides in all the developmental spheres and has emerged as one of the fastest developing country worldwide. In the past four years our government has focused on improving both the social and physical infrastructure of the state. Our prominence has been on inclusive development that would give our people the environment and tools to actualize and manifest their individual potential for the collective good,” he said.
“Let us all work together with that spirit of idealism, self-sacrifice, discipline and unity of purpose that characterized our freedom struggle for building a modern, developed and progressive Nation,: he added.
