PANJIM: Governor Mridula Sinha has greeted the people of Goa on the occasion of Goa Statehood Day.
The Governor said that Statehood to Goa is a very important historical milestone. This is the first occasion that after assuming the charge of Governor of Goa that I am greeting the people of this State. I have seen the State progressing in politics, finance, social and cultural fields.
Goa is known for peace and hospitality. Goa is also developing as one of the important tourism destinations.
We will have to make Goa one of the clean State of the country. The responsibility lies in every citizen to take this task ahead towards reality.
Once again I wish Goans on the occasion of Goa Statehood Day.
The Chief Minister, Laxmikant Parsekar, to has extended his greetings and best wishes to the people of Goa on Goa Statehood Day.
The Chief Minister has said May 30 is, indeed, a memorable day in the political history of Goa, for it was on this day in 1987 that Goa became the 25th State of the Indian Union. Statehood gave Goa a distinct identity and individuality, besides providing ample opportunities to shape its destiny.
He said that Statehood Day is an appropriate occasion to ponder over what we have achieved in the past 28 years. Let us on this occasion work in unison to take Goa to greater heights of progress and prosperity, he said.
