The delegation comprised of RSS Mahila Karyakartas, BLP Mahila Morcha members and other prominent women from different fields.
The meeting highlighted issues such as the Uniform Civil Code and its impact on various matters from women point of view.
The Governor was keen to know more about the Uniform Civil Code practiced in Goa and hence in a span of a month she met women delegations from Christian, Muslim and Hindu communities and wishes to meet Tribal and Sikh women in the near future.
Various questions were asked including the status of marriage registration among Hindus.
It was informed that mostly all follow the registration rule today irrespective of any religion, mainly to avail the different Government schemes such as Laadli Laxmi. Suggestions like pre marriage counselling were given in order to prevent divorces and other family disputes.
The Governor exchanged her views and experiences from her career with the women. The Governor was glad to hear that each one present contributed in some way to the Swachh Bharat Mission and how they are actively participating in it through campaigns and group awareness programmes.
