PANJIM: Goa Governor Mridula Sinha on Thursday granted her assent to the notification reducing road tax by 50 per cent on purchase of new vehicles for a period of three months, till December 31, 2019.
Director Transport Rajan Satardekar said that Governor has given the assent to the proposal, notification which is likely to be issued on Friday.
“The notification has already been signed today and sent to printing press. On Friday, it will be out and implementation will mostly be immediately. The auto sales have already increased in last eight days,” he said.
State cabinet had last week granted its nod for reducing of road tax by 50 per cent in order to boost the struggling auto industry. The benefit will be implemented from October 1 to December 31, 2019.
Meanwhile, the department has hiked the price of exclusive registrations numbers for the vehicles.
A draft notification to this effect has been issued by the government by giving time of 15 days to raise objects and suggestions to the general public.
