PANJIM: The State leaders paid floral tributes to former Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar on his third death anniversary on Thursday.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Valpoi MLA Vishwajit Rane, BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade and others visited Parrikar’s Smriti Sthal (memorial) at Miramar and paid their tributes.
After paying his tribute, Sawant tweeted, “Late Manohar Bhai has always been a source of inspiration, someone I could always look upto! He has not only brought me in the political arena; but has time and again guided me to serve the people with sincerity and impeccable integrity! On his ‘Punyatithi’ I offer my prayers on his remembrance!”
Sawant said that late Parrikar will always be remembered by Goans especially for his contribution to the development of Goa’s infrastructure.
Rane said that former Chief Minister and the former Union Defence Minister late Parrikar served the Nation till his very last day. The Nation will forever treasure that. Through his commitment and dedication late Parrikar contributed to positive changes in the system, he said.
Vasco MLA Krishna Daji Salkar said that late Parrikar was an admirable leader and an inspiration to us all. Panjim MLA Babush Monserrate and Utpal Parrikar, elder son of late Parrikar also visited Miramar and paid their tributes.
Governor P Sreedharan Pillai in a tweet said, “On the third anniversary of his passing, tributes are paid to Shri Manohar Parrikar, the former Minister of Defence and former Chief Minister of Goa.”
Marcaim MGP MLA Sudin Dhavalikar said, “Late Manohar Parrikar was an admired leader, a wise politician, but above all a dear friend. My tributes to him on his death anniversary!”
Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza along with other BJP members paid tribute to late Parrikar at the party’s North Goa District Office at Mapusa.
Many Union ministers and BJP leaders and functionaries took to Twitter to pay their tributes to late Parrikar on his third death anniversary.
