PANJIM: Fulfilling his promise of providing financial assistance to the needy and underprivileged section, Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai will hand over to the authorities Rs 96 lakh as financial assistance from His Excellency’s funds to 384 patients including 100 dialysis patients and 284 cancer patients.
After taking over as Governor of the State on July 15, 2021, Pillai decided to help the needy deprived and underprivileged section of the society to reach out to the people of the State.
The Governor made an announcement of various schemes and has so far disbursed financial assistance of Rs 2.75 crore from his Excellency’s funds to 1,005 dialysis, cancer and other patients across the State.
The Governor has also expressed his desire to introduce schemes like Kumbhar (potter) Kunbi Saree and Kashti (Handloom), Coir, etc to support and encourage the traditional skills/occupations of the people of the State.
