GVK saved 34,646 lives since inception

PANJIM: GVK EMRI, the emergency ambulance service introduced in Goa in 2008, has saved total 34,646 lives in last eleven years since its inception. 
The service, which was launched in 2008, completed eleven years of its association with Goa health department on Friday. Last year, the government had signed an MOU with GVK EMRI extended its term for another ten years till 2028. 
Announcing the success of GVK EMRI, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that in the last 11 years, service has received a total 27,21,411 calls while attended to 26,52,805, of which 34,646 lives were saved since inception.
Rane said that the service started with a fleet of 18 ambulances, at present has a fleet of 101 ambulances, which includes 39 Advance Life Saving ambulances, four Basic life saving ambulances, five cardiac care ambulances, 35 bike ambulances, four drop back ambulances, two neonatal ambulances, one VIP, nine hearse and two rescue vans. 
Government spends annually around Rs 50 lakh on training ambulance staff.
