MARGAO: Launching its State-wide campaign against the exploitation of women in Goa by Ponzi scheme operators, a group of women supported by the Goa Women’s Forum (GWF) on Thursday protested outside the Citrus Check Inns company’s office.
Alleging foul play by the company by taking the original investment documents, the Forum accused the company of selling the time share holiday as fixed deposit thereby duping several hundred women of their hard-earned money.
The Forum has demanded that company refund the women their hard-earned  money immediately.
Women from Ambaulim, Avedem, Raia, Davorlim, Paroda and several places have been reported to have been cheated by the scheme.
“Since the Assembly session is on, we look forward to the 38 MLAs and the candidates in the by-elections to come out with an ordinance to stop these Ponzi schemes,” said Lorna Fernandes.
Margao PI C L Patil has advised the women to approach the Economic Offences Cell to get justice.
