Hajis to pay Rs16,000

NEW DELHI, SEPT 21 The Union Cabinet has approved Goa and Bhopal as new embarkation points for Haj 2010. This year, approximately 1.70 lakh pilgrims from India will go for Haj, of which 1.25 lakh will go through the Haj Committee.

The Union Cabinet has approved Goa and Bhopal as new embarkation points for Haj 2010. This year, approximately 1.70 lakh pilgrims from India will go for Haj, of which 1.25 lakh will go through the Haj Committee.
Air travel arrangements for these 1.25 lakh pilgrims will be made by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and they will be carried from 21 embarkation points through chartered flights. Goa and Bhopal have been added as new embarkation points this year.
Each pilgrim will pay Rs 16,000 plus airport charges. The balance cost will be borne by the government.
