Hand, Foot & Mouth disease cases detected, but it’s not alarming: State Surveillance Officer

There are more than 12,000 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease across the world. Only 12 deaths have been reported from Africa, even as WHO had declared it an emergency. In Goa, Pediatricians across the state are reporting a number of cases of hand, foot and mouth disease. The disease is highly contagious. One paediatrician said, “It’s not a dangerous disease, but a common one. There’s nothing to get worried about.” Regarding monkeypox, the State Surveillance Officer said that surveillance is on for this disease too.
