Hand over Rs 500 cr land conversion scams to CBI, ED: Lokacho Aadhar

PANJJIM: The Lokacho Aadhar on Tuesday demanded that the State government should complain to CBI and ED to unearth the Rs 500 crore scam through land conversions by amending 16 (b) of Town and Country Planning Act and 17 (2) of Goa Land Development and Building Construction Regulations, 2010.

Slamming the BJP-led government for undermining Goa’s environment, Lokacho Aadhar President Trajano D’Mello said that the rampant land conversions approved under these amendments pose a grave threat to the very fabric of the State and its future generations.

Shedding light on the grave concerns surrounding the 17 (2) amendment, Trajano said, “In the name of correction, there is destruction. The amendment has destroyed forest land, orchards, and eco-sensitive zones in Goa.In the past, land conversion decisions were made through an inclusive and consultative process. However, the introduction of 17 (2) amendment has transformed this process where, the TCP Minister has been taking decisions on his own.”

Launching a scathing attack against TCP Minister, Vishwajit Rane, Trajano said that the Minister appears pre-occupied with facilitating further land conversions, contrary to his responsibilities.
