Hanumanth Parab demands probe against cops for assaulting him in lock-up

PANJIM: Hanumanth Parab of Pissurlem on Monday demanded inquiry against DySP Sagar Ekoskar and the then Valpoi PI Prajyot Fadte for allegedly assaulting him even as his complaint was heard before the State Police Complaints Authority (SPCA).

Speaking to mediapersons in the presence of his counsel Adv Sahish Mhambrey, Parab said that for the last 18 months, the police authorities are adopting delaying tactics to initiate action against the two police officers for allegedly assaulting him in the lock-up.

Parab pointed out that following directives of the High Court of Bombay at Goa in August last year, he and another petitioner Floyd Coutinho approached the State Police Complaints Authority (SPCA) and to expedite the disposal of both the complaints. Parab had filed his complaints against DySP Ekoskar for assault and Coutinho had filed complaint against the Ekoskar for harassment.

Adv Mhambrey said that the police are adopting all sort of tactics to pressure Coutinho to withdraw the complaint filed against DySP Eksokar.
