PONDA: A two-wheeler rider and pillion were injured on Monday when the rider lost control of his bike while trying to avoid a collision with an oncoming truck that suddenly appeared in front of his bike.
Haphazard parking of heavy vehicles on either side of Tisk-Usgao bypass is causing a lot of trouble to vehicles plying on this stretch, as the drivers are unable to monitor their vehicles and pedestrians ahead on the bypass.
The duo were shifted to a nearby hospital but were later discharged after first aid.
Locals have demanded strict action against vehicles being parked on either side, risking lives of not only riders and drivers but also pedestrians. Incidents of parking on Tisk-Usgao bypass have increased recently.
Despite penal action by Ponda Traffic police personnel, vehicles, especially trucks, are seen parked on either side of the road. The road stretch, being a highway, is frequented by heavy transport vehicles from different States. Drivers and cleaners have been openly seen answering nature’s call on this stretch during wee hours. They are also often seen throwing garbage and food on the roadside. Locals have demanded immediate action to curb the menace.
