PANJIM: Pointing out that the government is yet to provide 100 per cent households with tap connections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday said that the BJP-led government should stop fooling people on Har Ghar Jal initiative.
Addressing mediapersons, AAP President Amit Palekar said that the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant should stop fooling the people of Goa with empty announcements.
“All over Goa there are villages with no piped water connection. And even where pipes have been laid, there is no water supply. Every week there is a protest somewhere in Goa by citizens aggrieved over lack of water supply. The BJP is only rubbing salt in people’s wounds with such hollow claims,” he said.
Referring to a graph from the “Har Ghar Jal” website of the Central government, Palekar said the data shows that the 2.63 lakh households claimed to have been provided piped water during an official event held on Friday. He said that similar announcement was made in 2020 also.
AAP termed the BJP government as an “event management sarkar”, which has nothing to show in terms of development or promises it has fulfilled.
Palekar invited Sawant to join him for a short drive in any taluka, as per the Chief Minister’s choice, where he would be shown multiple areas where people are still struggling to meet their daily water needs.
