Hardik Pandya Ruled Out of 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup Due to Ankle Injury; Prasidh Krishna Steps In

Star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya’s hopes of participating in the 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup have been dashed as he sustained an ankle injury during a match against Bangladesh. Although he missed subsequent games, there were initial speculations about his possible return for the knockout rounds. However, it has now been confirmed that Pandya won’t be able to make it back to the tournament.

In response to this setback, Prasidh Krishna has been chosen to replace Pandya in the squad, and this change has received approval from the World Cup Technical Committee, as confirmed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in an official statement. With this approval, Krishna becomes eligible for selection in the pivotal encounter between India and South Africa, scheduled for Sunday.

Prasidh Krishna, a talented right-arm pacer, boasts an impressive track record with 33 wickets in his 19 ODI appearances thus far. He will vie for a place in India’s fast-bowling lineup alongside established names like Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah. Krishna’s inclusion adds depth and competition to India’s bowling resources as they strive for success in the remainder of the World Cup.
