PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Monday advised the counsel representing former Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar that his client should argue his defence in the Serula Comunidade cheating and land grab case before the North Goa Principal District & Sessions Judge.
The High Court of Bombay at Goa pointed out that Parulekar could not have filed a writ petition when there was an alternative remedy of filing a criminal revision application.
The court has adjourned the matter to August 14 as Parulekar’s counsel, Subodh Kantak, sought time to seek instructions from him.
Parulekar and others are accused of having committed offences under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The Sessions Court in its order dated June 1 held that Parulekar had cheated the Comunidade of Serula and public at large in the alleged land grabbing case and that he had falsely appropriated comunidade land in collusion with the comunidade officials. The petition had been filed by Aires Rodrigues.
