PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa has allowed application of Ramesh Naik as an intervener in the petition filed by six disqualified board of directors of the Goa State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd (Goa Dairy).
Naik had filed miscellaneous civil applications praying that he be applicant allowed to address the High Court as intervener and not by impleading as respondent in the writ petitions filed by the then Goa Dairy chairman Rajesh Faldessai and board of directors Vijayakant Goankar,Vithoba Dessai, Madhavrao Dessai, Baburao Fadte Dessai and Shivanand Pednekar, all board of directors who have challenged their disqualification by the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS), in April this year.
Appearing for the intervener, Adv John Abreu Lobo submitted that the applicant had originally made a representation to the Chief Minister in September 2019 highlighting irregularities in the functioning of the Goa State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd, Curti-Ponda.
The Court has already granted interim relief to the six petitioners and had posted their matter for further hearing on September 21.
In April this year, the RCS had permanently disqualified eight of the 12 board of directors for allegedly committing irregularities and for acting in a manner detrimental to the interest of the Goa Dairy.
The RCS had also appointed a three-member Committee of Administrators comprising Parag M Nagarcenkar, officer of Goa Civil Service as chairman and Dr Rama G Parab, veterinary officer of Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services and Sandeep Parab/Parsekar, accountant of Directorate of Accounts as members, to manage the affairs of the Goa Dairy.
