HC asks govt to decide on appeal by casinos against CCP order on hoardings

PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Friday asked the State government to expeditiously decide on the appeals filed by casino operators against the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) order of removing their hoardings in its jurisdiction.

During the hearing of suo motu petition on illegal hoardings, the court had directed the government, municipalities, panchayats and the NHAI to place on record the current status of all the existing hoardings.

The CCP had issued notices to 61 hoarding operators including those belonging to casinos. AG Devidas Pangam informed the court that all municipalities have been asked to file their reports at the earliest. The court has also made the GCZMA party in the PIL.

The court also granted three months extension to the 15-member committee constituted by the government to formulate policy to regulate and determine issuance of permissions and monitoring hoardings across the State.
