PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Friday directed that a panel be formed comprising the Dean of GMC and an expert suggested by the family of social activist late Bismarque Dias to decide if the body is required for further investigation or an autopsy.
The High Court has asked the family members to submit the name of an expert on Saturday and the panel is to reply to the bench in two weeks whether they need Dias’ body for further investigation or autopsy so that the family will not have any dispute in performing the last rites.
The family members had challenged the order of the Goa Human Rights Commission directing the North Goa Collector to issue suitable directions in accordance with the law to dispose Dias’ body which is preserved at the morgue at GMC since November 2015.
Dais went missing on November 5, 2015 and his body was found two days later in a tributary of River Mandovi.
