HC dismisses petition against Wellness Medicenter

PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa has dismissed a petition that challenged the contract awarded to Wellness Medicenter to supply medicines and surgical implants to Goa Medical College (GMC).
The petition filed in April 2018 had alleged arbitrariness and discrimination by the government to favour business interests of the Mumbai-based company. The petitioner had questioned the alleged suspicious manner in which the e-tendering process was carried out. It charged the entire process was not transparent and was tailored-made to suit the requirement of the Mumbai company.
The bench had issued notices to the government as well as the pharmaceutical company, to which the respondents denied any biasness in finalising the firm for GMC.
On hearing the petitioner and the respondents, the High Court found no basis to the allegation, dismissing it.
