MARGAO: The High Court has dismissed the plea of Competent Automobiles challenging the stay on its hotel project at Arossim. It has also asked the South Goa Additional District and Sessions Court to hear the matter on January 6 and to decide the matter on merits within three months.
It may be recalled that Competent Automobiles had proposed a 226-room starred hotel on the seashore at Arossim. In July, Additional District and Sessions Judge P V Sawaikar granted an interim stay on an order passed by the additional director of panchayats granting permission to Competent Automobiles to construct the resort. Competent Automobiles had challenged the stay in the High Court.
At the High Court on Wednesday, the counsel for the petitioners submitted that the application before the district judge be expedited.
Justice C V Bhadang directed the district court to decide the civil revision application as expeditiously as possible and preferably, within three months of receiving the order. The matter will come up in the district court on Jan 6.
