PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa has disposed off the contempt petition that challenged Goa government’s delay in implementing the digital tourist taxi meters in the State.
When the matter came up for hearing on Tuesday, the Transport Department submitted an affidavit in reply urging disposal of the petition stating that only 50 taxis are awaiting appointment for installation of the meters.
As per the status report filed by the department, out of 11,025 tourist taxis, 9,362 have installed the meters while 50 are pending. The remaining tourist taxis have either discontinued their services or transferred to rent a cab.
