PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Wednesday disposed off the petition filed by the All Goa Private Bus Owners Association (AGPBOS) objecting to the fitment of digital taxi meters.
The Division Bench said it was disinclined to interfere in the matter as it involves expertise while disposing it off. On Tuesday, the Bench had refused to admit the plea.
The Association along with others had jointly moved the High Court challenging the order on the fitment of digital meters in tourist taxis.
A delegation of AGPBOS and Private Taxi Operators had alleged illegalities in the ongoing installation of the taxi digital fare meter. The associations demanded that an amended Rule about installing of the digital meters does not speak about those taxis which come to Goa from other States. This disparity, AGPBOS General Secretary Sudip Tamhankar alleged, will incur huge loss to the Goan taxi operators and demanded that non-Goan taxis should also be mandated with the Rule.
