HC: File specific affidavit on missing papers of Reliance-Salgaocar project

PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa has directed Electricity Department to file a specific affidavit with regards to the missing documents of Reliance-Salgaocar power project.
Hearing a petition filed by social activist Kashinath Shetye and others, Justice Prithviraj K Chavan and Justice N M Jamdar, said, “We have perused the powers purchase agreement. It is executed on behalf of the Governor of Goa. Therefore, the Electricity Department is concerned with this agreement. In this background, it is not the contention on affidavit that these documents cannot be given to the petitioner, but the stand is that the documents are not available.”
The order further states, “These documents appear to be related to the agreement in question. It is not clear what is meant by the information is not available. We therefore direct the Chief Engineer of the Electricity Department to file an affidavit as to whether these documents are missing from the file or they are misplaced, that what is meant by the documents are not available. The response to the queries under the Act should be specific.”
Shetye had filed the PIL after the department failed to give information under RTI with regards to the power project despite the orders to do so from the Goa State Information Commission.
