PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Wednesday forfeited surety amounts of four sureties after they failed to produce the history-sheeter Tarzan Parsekar before the Court.
The Supreme Court after cancelling the bail granted to Parsekar by the Goa Children’s Court, had referred the matter to the High Court. Since Parsekar is evading service and absconding, the High Court has now appointed an advocate to represent him before the Court for the purpose of deciding the present proceedings.
On August 7, 2024, the High Court, while hearing a suo motu criminal revision had received reports from all four courts regarding cases pending against Parsekar and had issued notices to the sureties. Only one surety had agreed to produce Parsekar before the Court but failed to do so within the given time. The remaining three sureties showed their inability to produce the respondent before the Court and accordingly, the surety amounts were forfeited.
The record further showed that Parsekar was not appearing in all four matters wherein he was the accused and non-bailable warrants had been issued against him while, in none of the four cases, notices to the sureties were issued.
Meanwhile, the matter will be taken up for final disposal on August 27.
