PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Monday issued notice to Old Goa Police Station in connection with a petition filed by ‘prime conspirator’ of St Cruz shootout Zenito Cardozo seeking anticipatory bail in the case.
Cardozo had last week filed the petition challenging the Additional Sessions Court’s order dismissing his plea for anticipatory bail in connection with the case that saw arrest of nearly two dozen persons so far.
The High Court has thus issued a notice returnable by August 17, which is when the matter will be next heard.
After initial reluctance, the police called him a ‘prime conspirator’ of the attack. Imran Bepari’s house was attacked on June 20, which accidentally resulted in the killing of Sonu Yadav, fellow gang member.
In the affidavit filed before the Lower Court to oppose Cardozo’s plea, the police stated that the incident was fallout of a gang rivalry between Boom Boom gang operated by Bepari and Bang Bang gang operated by Cardozo. Both the gangs were trying to establish their supremacy over each other.
