HC lifts restrictions on issue of construction licences by Colva P’yat

PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Wednesday lifted the restrictions imposed on the Colva Village Panchayat with regards to the issue of construction licences.
In April this year, the Court had restrained the Village Panchayat for failing to set up and make operational the permanent Material Recovery Facility (MRF) for garbage management within its jurisdiction.
In January this year, the Court had also ordered forfeiting of Rs 90,000 deposited by the Colva panchayat for failing to construct the MRF by December 2022. Of the Rs 90,000 deposit, Rs 80,000 was to be given to the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) and Rs 10,000 to the amicus curie.
