PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa has issued notices to Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) and Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) in response to a petition filed by Vedanta Limited on being stopped from unloading coal at the port.
The firm moved the High Court alleging that MPT has blocked Sesa-Vedanta’s unloading of coal since February 12 without prior intimation.
MPT, it is learnt, stopped the unloading of coal on the basis of the minutes of the meeting of GSPCB in the second week of January. The Board had suspended the consent to operate, however, the petitioner claims it was not informed and the consignment is lying in the ship.
