The notices issued to Goa government, Director General of Police, Inspector General of Police, DIGs, superintendent of CBI, superintendents of Goa police, is returnable in two weeks.
In the petition filed before the High Court, the activist alleged that despite his complaints to Panjim police station pointing out different forms of gambling being carried out at several city locations, the local police failed to take action. Identifying two senior police officers in his petition copy, the activist charged them of accepting bribes from those involved in gambling to shield them from police action.
The High Court has included two vernacular dailies as witnesses in the matter as the concerned media houses had in the recent past published stories on gambling including disclosing matka numbers.
