PANJIM: The High Court has allowed the Bardez Bazaar Co-operative Society to go ahead with the proceedings against its ex-chairman Jaiwant Naik. The Society had issued him a show cause notice seeking a reply on ‘why his membership should not be terminated for his acts which are detrimental to the interest of society’.
The then Chairman, in February 2017, was voted out at a special meet held on the direction of the HC. Out of 14 board members 13 voted in favor of the motion. The no confidence motion was moved by Dharma Chodonar and other directors on the Board. Naik had challenged the show cause notice in the High Court wherein the bench restrained the society from taking a final call on the notice but allowed the general body meeting to take a decision on the issue.
Society Chairman Gurudas Sawal said they will shortly convene a special general body meeting to decide the show cause notice.
