PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa has allowed Golden Globe Hotels to anchor their grounded ship in River Mandovi for an underwater survey following the consent of the government of Goa.
In its interim prayer Golden Globe Hotels Pvt Ltd prayed that it be allowed to undertake an underwater survey in River Mandovi to ascertain the damages and estimates for repairs.
Captain of Ports by September 15 will assign the place for the vessel to carry out the underwater survey but not in Panjim Port. The court has asked that the survey be carried out by September 24.
Golden Globe Hotels had pleaded before the HC to allow them to anchor the vessel at Panjim Port for the underwater survey.
Lucky 7, owned by Golden Globe Hotels Pvt Ltd, has been through a series of controversies in the past few weeks. Following the consent by Captain of Port the vessel owners tried to bring it into the River Mandovi in the heavy rain and rough weather. The attempt failed and the vessel was grounded at Miramar beach. The HC had also come down heavily on Golden Globe Hotels and shown its resentment over the company failing to salvage the vessel from Miramar beach. The High Court observed that the vessel stuck at Miramar is damaging the environment.
